South and Middle Belt Alliance

Determining Our Future,
Securing Our Autonomy

Preamble

The Right to Restructure

The South and Middle Belt Alliance (SAMBA) Nation is founded on the shared belief that the peoples of the Middle Belt, South East, South West, and South South have the right to determine their political future, protect their cultural identities, and build a society rooted in justice, equity, and true democratic governance.

For over a century, Nigeria has operated on a foundation imposed without the consent of its diverse peoples. The modern political architecture has drifted away from representation, creating an unsustainable system that disregards regional voices.

SAMBA Nation emerges as a peaceful, lawful, and collective response — a movement committed to shaping a future where governance serves the people and not the other way around.

About Us

A Peaceful Coalition

SAMBA Nation is a socio‑political alliance formed to peacefully pursue a referendum on the future of the South and Middle Belt regions.

We advocate for the right of our people to choose: a new nation, or semi‑autonomous regional governance within a restructured federation. We believe in immediate regional autonomy for the South East, South West, South South, and Middle Belt.

A willing union of free, autonomous peoples.

Our Covenant

SAMBA Nation is built upon a profound covenant of peaceful regional self-determination. For decades, the peoples of the Middle Belt, South East, South West, and South South have sought an honest dialogue about the structure of coexistence. We believe the path forward lies in a democratic reset — a peaceful, people-driven referendum.

A nation is not a forced administrative unit, but a willing union of free peoples. To move forward, we must build a system rooted in checks and balances, absolute security of lives and property, equitable wealth distribution, and decentralized authority that respects our diverse cultural identities.

Core Grievances

Why SAMBA Nation?

Five Core Reasons

Constitutional Failures

1. Constitutional & Legal Contradictions

The adoption of Sharia law in 12 northern states contradicts the secular foundation of the Nigerian Constitution. This dual-legal system creates unequal citizenship and fuels religious tension under an imposed 1999 Constitution.

Colonial Legacy

2. The Flawed Amalgamation

Nigeria was created by British colonial authorities in 1914 for administrative convenience, not for the wellbeing of its peoples. The forced union of culturally distinct regions has produced decades of instability and imbalance.

Security Crisis

3. Unabated Insecurity

Citizens across Nigeria face persistent threats from terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and ethno-religious violence. The current structure has failed to protect lives and property.

Systemic Failure

4. A Nation in Decline

After 112 years since amalgamation and 65 years since independence, Nigeria continues to experience economic collapse, political dysfunction, ethno-religious conflict, and governance failures.

Democratic Reset
